NAV members provided the statistical data as reproduced in tables 1 to 6. All annual figures have been checked by PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Tables 1, 2 and 3 show the developments in production, export and deliveries to end users, subdivided into product categories. The next three tables, 4, 5 and 6, show the same developments, but these tables are subdivided according to packaging material.
NAV commissioned AC Nielsen to map the sales of product groups through the largest channels of the Dutch market. Tables 7 and 8 compare the sales of products packaged in aërosols to the total sales of these product groups (in all forms of packaging). Short explanations are given on the developments in eight important market segments.
The production figures in table 1 show a slight decrease in 2008 compared to 2007. This decrease is divided unequally between the product groups. The largest decrease is visible in hairfoam, hairspray, deodorants and antiperspirants, shaving foam as well as insecticides and plant protection. The product groups car maintenance products, technical industrial products and lacquers and paints however show a slight increase.
Regarding the export figures table 2 also shows a small decrease compared to 2007, in the same productgroups as shown in table 1.
Table 3 reveals an obvious decrease in delivery of deodorants to end users. This decrease was cause by the decrease of the number of participants in the survey over 2008, compared to 2007.
